Sutherland BEN - Work Placement Program

The Work Placement Program provides opportunities for students studying a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course, either at school or TAFE, as part of their Higher School Certificate.

Each VET course has a mandatory component of 70 hours industry placement as stipulated by the NSW Board of Studies.  Students complete 35 hours of Work Placement in Year 11 and another 35 hours in Year 12. 

Work Placement is not Work Experience

These courses provide students with either a national qualification or credit towards a national qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework.  Students are working towards achieving industry recognised competencies and will use the experience to expand the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom.

Sutherland BEN coordinate work placements for all VET students in the Sutherland Shire.
